| 内容記述 | In this paper, the author investigates Augustine's Confessions XI from the point of the traditional ancient Greek metaphysics of time and being since Parmenides, especially that of Platonism. Though Augustine's theory of time is famous for its psychological analysis, we find his true intention in his construction of the christian cosmology (creation theory) with help of some Greek philosophical conceptions, as seen in a series of texts of his exposition of Genesis. It is generally accepted that Plotinus' Enneades has a great influence on Augustine's theory of time, eternity and soul, especially in the description of the distention of soul (distentio animae). The author concludes, however, Augustine's metaphysical theory of time and individual souls contains great differences from the ancient Greek Platonists. | |||||
