| 内容記述 | What is man? In my previous work: Aquinas on the Human Being ― The Transcendence of the Human Being as Person ―, and according to Thomas Aquinas, I was going to reply to this question from a viewpoint of “transcendence of the human being”. However, man is a social animal, so what kind of community man belonged to, whether to belong, or to belong further is essential to the human being. According to Thomas, it is evident that all who are included in a community stand in relation to that community as parts to a whole, so that whatever is the good of the part can be directed to the good of the whole. We need the community because we are parts of it. The community as the whole is composed of such various whole order attachments. Movement to extreme happiness is turned to the movement to the common good. Therefore, how the community, which is the whole, is positioned is a result of the existential subject assigned to every individual person who is a portion of that community. | |||||
