| 内容記述 | According to Thomas Aquinas, beauty is goodness, and it has a relationship to the cognitive faculty. Moreover, he defines beauty as having three conditions, i.e. perfection, due proportion, and brightness. With proportion, beauty has to do with some transcendent character. Proportion means the relation of one thing to another. Moreover, with proportion, beauty also has to do with image. Image is man's proper likeness of God, which is expressed as a certain tendency towards perfection. Man can express God as image, the expression and perfection of the image signifies the likeness of virtue, and the love of virtue. Man's proper beauty will then consist in virtual activity. With the relationship to the transcendence of image, there is a great possibility of beauty in creation. |
