Environmental education has been called for in order to accomplish and realize a quality of life and basic concepts of happiness as the 1977 Beograd Charter firstly showed. In Japan, environmental education has been stressed. But, there have not been many examples of classes on environmental issues in home economics education, in senior high school. In September 1998, questionnaires on environmental issues were sent outto 666 senior high school students in Kagoshima Prefecture in order to find out how awarestudents are of growing environmental issues for providing specialized classes in this subject. The results were as follows:  1. Two-thirds of the respondents were interested in the environmental issues. Girls showed higher interest than boys did.  2. Ninety percent of the respondents recognized that the present state of the earth's environment is not good. Those who have a higher awareness of environmental issues showed a higher percentage in recognizing the environmental problems.  3. Out of 17 questions regarding the knowledge on environmental problems, students knew 8.5 items in detail on average. Knowing many items on environmental problems was significantly related to the awareness of environmental issues.}, pages = {9--17}, title = {鹿児島県下の高校生の環境問題に関する認識(第1報) : 環境問題に関する一般的関心と知識および地球環境に関する認識}, volume = {33}, year = {2003} }
