脂肪の消化には,消化酵素リパーゼのほかに,リパーゼが働けるように脂肪を乳化してミセルの状態を形成させる胆汁酸が必要である。胆汁酸は,肝臓でコレステロールから一連の酵素反応を経て合成される。肝臓で合成される胆汁酸は,主としてコール酸とケノデオキシコール酸からなる。生合成の初発酵素である Cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase の mRNA 合成には日内リズムが見られ,そのリズムは摂食によって影響をうけることが知られている。Cholesterol 12α-hydroxylase はケノデオキシコール酸とコール酸合成の分岐点に位置する酵素で,本酵素の働きでコール酸への合成がすすめられる。Cholesterol 12α-hydroxylase mRNA 合成の日内リズムの詳しい研究は殆どないが,山田らにより Cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase と同じようなリズムがあることが近年見出されている。しかし摂食によるリズムの変動については,まだ報告されていない。今回,摂食時間を昼間6時間に限定したウサギで Cholesterol 12α-hydroxylasemRNA の変動を検討したところ,Cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase のような顕著な差は見られなかったが,Cholesterol 12α-hydroxylase mRNA
